Jack Mindy

Jazz90.1’s afternoon host is Jack Mindy, who’s been talking on a radio somewhere almost since Marconi’s day. A Buffalonian (Buffaloon?) by birth,Jack’s interest in jazz started when a relative took him and his brother, at ages 10 & 12, to a concert featuring Erroll Garner, the Four Freshmen and the big Stan Kenton band. A graduate of Ithaca College, his radio career started in Top 40 in Pittsburgh, St. Louis, San Francisco and Syracuse, oozed through the “Kenny & Dolly” days of Adult Contemporary in Buffalo, then into talk radio in Detroit before coming to Rochester.

His voice has been heard on such legendary big-signal stations as KMOX, KXOK, WJR, WTIC and Buffalo’s “KB” radio. He hosted the morning show on Rochester’s WHAM during the original “Gulf Storm” and the ice storm in 1990-91. Jack started with Jazz90.1 as a volunteer and has been the Operations Manager since fall of 2002.

From 3to 6 p.m. you’ll hear everything that’s great in jazz, from today’s new talent to the “classic” jazz artists who made it what it is today.

Whether you’re at work or in your car, Jack Mindy keeps you and the music up and running on Jazz90.1. Contact Jack by e-mailing jack@jazz901.org.
