Phil been a volunteer music host with Jazz 90.1 since 1995. He hosted various weekend shows for about eleven years. He currently hosts Mondays through Fridays from noon to three. He is also the station’s Volunteer Coordinator and is responsible for editing and updating the live local public service announcements that are broadcast weekdays.
Since he can remember, two of his most significant interests have been radio and music. He enjoys many types of music, but jazz is his primary interest. He began his radio career in college, where he worked at WHRW (at Binghamton University) which was, and still is, one of the few student run radio stations in the country. He grew up on Long Island and lived there until 1981, when he moved to the Rochester area. He worked for New York State’s Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities for thirty two years. He retired from that organization several years ago and now has additional time for radio, travel (including jazz cruises), and other interests.
