Phil has been a volunteer music host on Jazz 90.1 since 1995. He can be heard from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, and does fill-in programs as needed. He was the station’s daily noon to three midday host from November 2006 through December 2010, and hosted various weekend shows between May 1995 and November 2006. Phil’s radio career started at Binghamton University’s WHRW in 1967. His radio work was interrupted somewhat by the “day job” he held (in a completely non-broadcast capacity) from 1971 to 2002. Phil’s Tuesday evening show features a wide variety of music including songs from The Great American Songbook and the great songs written since that era. (Phil likes to call them “Second Generation Standards”). While he may play almost anything, including a few tunes by the original Second Generation artists, the emphasis is on short and sweet.
