Derrick is host of The Spectrum on Jazz90.1 every Sunday night from 10 p.m. – 1 a.m. Derrick has been with the station since 1989 and is a five time JazzWeek Jazz Programmer of The Year nominee, and a winner of the award in 2006. Derrick’s life long obsession and passion for jazz started when he bought his first jazz album Spectrum, by drummer Billy Cobham—at age 4. When not at the station he often can be found at various times and places around the Flower City sharing and spreading his passion for great music, especially during the Jazz Festival. In addition to his work as a broadcaster, Derrick volunteers at The Northeast Block Alliance, Camp Good Days and Special Times as well as The Mary Cariola Center.
