Al Meilutis has always been involved in the Community and it was no surprise when he joined forces with Ray Serafin as a volunteer Co-host of the popular Polka Bandstand Show on JAZZ90.1.
Since 1994, he’s been bringing his love of Polka music and his love of people to the microphone every week.
If you are one of the dozens of callers who phone-in the Polka Bandstand Show to say hello or to make a dedication, you probably hear Al’s voice on the other end of the line.
Al’s dedication and commitment to the community is demonstrated through his affiliation and active participation in numerous organizations. Currently he serves as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Town of Greece and is a member of the Greece Rotary Club. Al also serves as the President of Greece Community Broadcasting Inc, an organization that is committed to community based radio, and the betterment of JAZZ90.1 (WGMC). He also the current President of Rochester Polka Fans, a group that has promoted Polka dances in the Rochester area. Al is also a member of the International Polka Association.
Previously Al has served on the Advisory Board for the Children’s Hospital at Strong Memorial Hospital and on the Town of Greece Municipal Facilities Task Force, as well as a director and the Vice President of the Park Ridge Foundation and a director of Park Ridge Health Systems. Al also served as a member of the Town of Greece Planning Board for seven years and was elected as a Councilman for the Town of Greece in 1987.
Al Meilutis is currently employed as the Executive Vice President of Metro Mattress Corp. Metro Mattress is. a specialty bedding retailer with locations throughout Upstate New York. Metro Mattress sells Sealy, Simmons, Tempur-Pedic, Natural Response and King Koil mattresses. They also sell beds, futons and daybeds.
Al and his wife, Judy, and their daughter Tricia reside in the Town of Greece. Judy and Al also have a son, Tom who is career member of the United States Marine Corp.
